Newcastle site takes thousands of calls on behalf of Sport Relief

Sport ReliefStaff from our Newcastle branch manned the phones for Sport Relief on Friday 19th March with 100 volunteers taking over 4,000 calls to collect cash donations for the biennial charity fundraiser. Sales Advisors, Team Managers and Site Directors donned sports outfits and worked shifts from 6PM to 2AM.

This is the first time that we’ve taken calls for Sport Relief and staff at the Newcastle site marked the build up to the event by holding a series of Olympic style office events throughout the week including paper airplane competitions and a 5k pedometer challenge whilst several members of staff raised money on the night by waxing their chests.

The event, which concluded with the Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 21st March, is said to have raised a staggering £31m in total with the proceeds being distributed to underprivileged communities across the world.

Nick Mattlock, Site Director at the Newcastle site, said: “It was a phenomenally good evening for all involved. The volunteers, many of whom came in fancy dress and had their faces painted to celebrate the occasion, were all immensely proud when the lines finally closed at 2 AM. This is typical of the spirit of Newcastle and a glowing testament to what The Listening Company has achieved since opening this site just 18 months ago.”

Aaron Glew, Employee Engagement Manager at the Newcastle site, said: “Staff made it clear that they were really keen to get involved ever since we announced details of the event and all were genuinely happy to give up their Friday evenings to take calls for this brilliant cause. Everyone who participated should be proud of their contribution.”
